(n): a small cylidrical box with a quarter-dollar sized hole in the lid that was part of the often matched set of grooming items found on the Victorian lady's dressing table, used as a receptacle for hair removed from the hair brush. Some of the hair thus collected was plaited and braided and used as a component of pins, brooches and other jewelry items of the Victorian era.
